Hello, friends.
I have completed an adapted picture book version of Ibram X. Kendi's Stamped From the Beginning. It was a work of love. I know that many of the topics described in the book are controversial at this particular political moment, though hopefully not forever. The material includes descriptions of rape, drug use, violence, slavery, and politics. I think this material is mostly only appropriate for students at the high school or college level with a particularly wise and insightful teacher or parent to elaborate on the material (describing what consent is, what slavery was like, what racism is, etc.). The book is a very helpful simplified description of the history of racism in America.
